Meta has recently unveiled a new option that empowers users to prevent Instagram from collecting data about the websites and applications they interact with. Initially introduced for Facebook, this privacy enhancement is now extending its reach to Instagram.
The tool, known as Activity Off-Meta Technologies, allows users to exert control over how third-party businesses' information is linked to their Facebook and Instagram profiles within the Meta ecosystem. With this feature, users can review the businesses, sever specific connections, or wipe out the data altogether.
Furthermore, Instagram is now offering the "Transfer Your Information" feature, enabling users to seamlessly transfer their photos and videos from Instagram to other platforms. This enhancement simplifies the process of sharing cherished memories, especially with third-party services.
In an effort to streamline the user experience, Meta is combining the "Download Your Information" and "Access Your Information" sections into a unified page for both Instagram and Facebook. This update ensures a more cohesive approach to managing these aspects.
Meta's press release emphasizes their commitment to meeting users' preferences by consolidating settings into the Accounts Center, allowing users to make decisions for all of their apps simultaneously. However, for those who prefer tailored settings for each app, that option remains available.
Accessing the Accounts Center on Instagram is as simple as navigating to Settings and privacy and selecting Accounts Center, with this menu also available on Facebook and Messenger.
